Saturday 18th of October
“Lesung: 10 Jahre Sommer der Migration”

10 years of the summer of migration. Over a million people came to Europe in late summer and autumn 2015. A movement that transcended borders and unleashed the potential for solidarity across all social strata in Europe. But what is a movement and what is interpersonal solidarity? Who is behind it, what are the fates, decisions and feelings of individual people?
To address these questions, we are hosting a literary festival at Celeste on 18 October by and for those for whom 2015 was an important part of their political life. People who were part of the movement themselves at the time; who were politicised by the summer and autumn of 2015; who are still shaped by 2015 today. The focus will not be on border measures or migration management, but on new beginnings, lived solidarity, encounters and friendships.
We believe that in literature as a political art form, it is important to make solidarity visible in stories and actions, to keep alive memories of the motivations and experiences of those affected, to discuss them together and to draw conclusions. This is why the festival is bringing together five authors on Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. – prose, poetry, documentation, multilingual, angry, tender.
It will be reading:
Susana AbdulMajid
Hamed Abboud
Dima Albitar Kalaji
Farhad Alsilos
Duygu Ağal
We look forward to seeing you there – read, listen, discuss and dance with us later!
Solidarity for all people on the move, abolish all borders, abolish ICMPD!
